PGIN caravan to give early Christmas gifts to 3,504 MDG beneficiaries

Beneficiaries of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in Ilocos Norte will have merrier and meaningful Christmas as the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) will give early yuletide presents through the MDG Christmas Caravan.

Now on its third year, the caravan which carries Noche Buena packages will roll on every town to reach at least 3,504 MDG recipients across the province in an effort to bring Christmas joy.

The first leg of the caravan will kick-off in Nueva Era, Banna, Marcos, Dingras on December 14, followed by Pagudpud, Bangui, Dumalneg, and Pasuquin on December 15, then in Pinili, Currimao, Paoay, and Batac City on December 16.

It will continue in Bacarra, Vintar, Piddig, Carasi, and Solsona on December 19, and in Badoc, San Nicolas, Sarrat, and Laoag City on December 20.

This 5-day distribution of packages targets to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger in the province as part of Governor Imee R. Marcos’ MDG commitments since she assumed office in 2010 and set aside P77 million from the provincial funds.

The setting of Millennium Development Goal was signed on September 2000 by member-states of the United Nations including the Philippines to eliminate extreme poverty worldwide until 2015.

The MDG office in Ilocos Norte was established in September 2010 to achieve the MDG Goals particularly in eradicating poverty and hunger. (Rey T. Arcangel, Jr., PGIN-CMO)
