Paoay politicians sign their own peace covenant

PAOAY, Ilocos Norte – Local candidates here in the May 9 elections signed a peace covenant spearheaded by Comelec, PNP and the parish church on February 25, 2016.
Present in the covenant signing were incumbent Mayor Dolores Clemente and her husband, Bobby Clemente ; and Vice Mayor Jessie Galano as well as the respective party mates and supporters of all political parties.

Bobby Clemente, who got vice mayoral bet Dr. Aileen Llaguno-Guerrero as his running mate, is now pitted against Galano for the mayoral post. Galano had allied with vice mayoral bet Waldo Carpio as his running mate.

Bobby Clemente served as municipal administrator of the present administration of his wife after he ruled for three terms as mayor. The wife is not seeking for reelection to give way for Bobby.

The signatories first attended a mass officiated by parish priest Fr. Manuel Lamprea at the St. Augustine church. The covenant signing followed after its content was read to the attendees with the objective to seek for fair, honest, orderly and peaceful elections.

S/Insp. Rodel Del Castillo, police chief, said he hope that the candidates will be guided by the covenant so that there will be no election related violence during the election here.
