BACARRA, Ilocos Norte (July 22) – Former Bacarra Mayor Pacifico Velasco posted bail as an arrest warrant for libel charges was served against him here.
The said warrant of arrest was issued by RTC Branch 16 Judge Conrado Ragucos for a libel suit filed by Bacarra Mayor Nicomedes de la Cruz against the former mayor.
Velasco recalled that the suit was filed against him when he was still in Bilibid prison last year for another case.
Velasco said he made previous statement against De la Cruz but those were “not libelous”, adding that he is ready to defend himself in court. (tsg)
