P575M 2013 city annual budget ok’d

LAOAG CITY (Nov. 21) – The city government of Laoag will operate financially-rich with an half-billion-peso annual budget to the tune of P575 million for next year 2013.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod had approved the budget during its recent regular session last Wednesday.

City budget officer Carlina Cumigad  said the new budget had an increase of about P28 million compared to the current budget  this year.

The 2013 annual budget was prepared and deliberated by the local finance committee together with the city government’s department heads and SP members in a team building meeting held in Sagada, Banaue and in Bontoc last September 20-24.

Cumigad said that after passing the annual budget by the city council, it will be forwarded for review and approval by provincial board.

It was learned that a big portion of the budget  was allotted to health care including  budget share for the Laoag City General Hospital.

Laoag Mayor Michael V. Fariñas thanked the city council members for the swift approval of the 2013 annual budget . (Theo S. Guiang)
