LAOAG CITY, July 1 (PIA) –The Department of Health (DOH) has approved the funding of the expansion of the Laoag City Health Office (LCHO) amounting to P4 million to complete its construction which began last year.
Dr. Renato Mateo, city health officer, reported last Monday’s regular staff meeting with Mayor Chevylle Farinas that the DOH has increased the initial fund amounting from P3 million to P4 million to complete the city health facility.
“The DOH has increased the fund to P4 million for the construction of the second floor which will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH),” he said.
The city government will provide the design of the building which will be submitted to the DOH and DPWH before the project starts.
The Laoag City government started upgrading the old city health office last year. The facility was opened in February 2015.
“It is a long overdue project and we are very grateful that finally we have upgraded it for the benefit of our constituents,” said Mateo.
The new building is more spacious and equipped with a centralized air-conditioning sytem to provide more convenience to clients.
Aside from the fund, the DOH has also provided modern equipment and facilities for dental services.
Meanwhile, the DOH has also provided P1.5 million each to Laoag’s three Rural Health Units (RHU) for their expansion and development.
