CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte (August 17) – The Department of Agrarian Reform is set to turn over a newly-completed P16.3 million farm-to-market road project in this town for the benefit of agrarian reform communities in three villages here.
The road project, jointly funded by the governments of the Philippines and Japan, will be formally turned over to residents of barangays Pias Norte, Anggapang Norte and Sur on August 25.
The project was also a collaborative work of DAR and the Japan International Cooperation Agency with the Department of Public Works and Highways as implementing agency.
Christianne Suguitan, provincial agrarian reform officer, said the road concreting was under the phase III of the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARISP) of the department.
The formal turn over program will be graced by Gov. Imee Marcos, Rep. Imelda Marcos and other project proponents led by Ma. Celerina Afable, national project manager of ARISP, Engr. Veniedo Reyes, DPWH regional director, Homer Tobias, DAR regional director and their provincial counterparts.
Meanwhile, Suguitan also said the DAR provincial office will mark the National Year of Forests on August 22 by planting trees along the roads of agrarian reform communities of Pacifico and Escoda in Marcos town.
The event will be followed by an outreach project for grade school pupils of the Cacafean Elementary School also in that town.
Suguitan said her office will provide supplemental feeding to grade school children from Grades 1 to 4. The children will also be given school supplies. (PIA Ilocos Norte)
