NBI agents raid 7 drug stores, seize fake medicines

At least seven drug stores in Ilocos Norte were raided by joint Laoag-Manila based NBI agents on allegation that these establishments were selling fake medicines.

The sting raid was confirmed by NBI chief in Ilocos Norte Dominador Villanueva III.

Volumes of assorted suspected fake medicines from spurious origin were confiscated from the drug stores, Villanueva told reporters.

Medical authorities said the fake medicines were probably made of plain flour ingredients, hence, no negative effect on health.

However, the selling was illegal as customers were “robbed” of their money and worse, the ill person taking the fake medicines got no therapeutic cure, they said.(tsg/da/ga)
