MSMEs in Ilocos get DOST assistance

Eleven Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ilocos Region were provided recently with financial assistance by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) 1 thru the Grants-In-Aid (GIA) program.

Program beneficiaries were Bosyong Furniture in Naguilian, Magat’s Welding Shop (MWS) in San Fernando City and Coloma Furniture in Bangar, all in the province of La Union.

Mr. Leonardo Rillera, owner of the Bosyong Furniture said, the P290, 000 assistance will help them acquire new tools and equipment to improve operation and production. “I am thankful to DOST for helping and granting us our needed assistance for the future success of our firm,” Rillera said.

The upgrading of equipment is also the major concern of MWS and Coloma Funiture. To complement it, the DOST provided Coloma P195,000 while MWS received P76,800 enabling to expand its production.

On the other hand, some P100,000 have been approved for Paulana Herbal Oil in Balungao, Pangasinan for packaging equipment and J.V.P Farm in Malasique, Pangasinan has been granted P1,999, 845 worth of production equipment.Likewise, Dalgems Welding Shop in San Carlos City, Pangasinan received P1,950,000 worth of innovation support system.

In Ilocos Sur, ALGEL Internet Café in Sta. Maria, Lucky Jay-ar Jayson Jaymarc Food Products and Kalye Guapo Radiator Works Specialist received assistance through technology, and machinery valued at P601,000 .

Meanwhile, a total of P1,185,000 was also given to Basilio’s Chicharon in San Nicolas Ilocos Norte for the provision of new equipment, and upgrading of its meat processing. On the contrary, the Tuato’s Noodles Trading and General Merchandise in Banna of same province has been given P449,100 worth of support for the upgrading of its facilities in fresh “pansit” production.
