More senior citizens get Social Pension

LAOAG CITY (Mar. 5) – The number of senior citizens, who are beneficiaries of the Social Pension Program, has increased to 128, it was announced by Adelina Asuncion of DSWD.

Asuncion disclosed that at least 26 senior citizens were added to the program this year.

The SPP, she said, is a program initiated under the Aquino administration in which beneficiaries, aged 77 years old and above, are entitled to receive P500 monthly stipend.

Asuncion explained that to qualify under this program, the senior citizen must not be a pensioner, has no regular financial support from any of his/her family members, sick or disabled. (Theo Guiang)
