MEDY LORENZO “SIGNS OFF”

Diomedes “Medy” Lorenzo passed away during confinement at the hospital in Laoag City about 4 a.m. of Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the age of 73 due to lingering illness, relatives said.

Lorenzo was former station manager of MBC-DZJC but he had a regular morning newscast capped with hard-hitting editorial he called “Medytorial”.
His track record showed that he served as broadcaster for 50 years including his stint at the MBC sister station DZNL in San Fernando City, La Union.

Medy popularized his own radio program in the 1960s and 1970s called “Medy Rides Again” and “Lagip ti Napalabas” during the time of station manager Alwyn Albano before he became senior announcer and later station manager.

His untimely demise came more than a month after his former long time colleague at MBC-DZJC died of cardiac arrest at the age of 69 in the person of Samuel A. Bangloy a.k.a. Samiris, a hard-hitting radio commentator and veteran journalist.(tsg/nrt/jg/ga)
