Marcos II Disfavors DepEd Directive

PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Laoag City – Provincial board member Mariano “Nonong” Marcos II, chairman of committee on education, said that he is not in favor of the DepED’s directive to teachers not to give any homework to students during weekends.

He said that he could not understand the reason behind it saying that instead teachers should not give too many students’ homeworks for the weekend.

“Mas maigi sana ay reading assignments,” he said.

DepEd provincial schools superintendent Dr. Cecilia Aribuabo, on her part, welcomed this directive saying that children would have more time to spend with their families.

“It will surely enhance their bonding with their families,” she said.
