Man rapped for illegal possession of grenade

SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte, May 13–A construction worker was charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives, lawmen reported.

Report said police operatives raided his house in Brgy. San Guillermo, this town. The search target cited in the warrant were loose firearm and ammunition. It turned out negative.

Instead, they found in his house a fragmentation hand grenade together with a piece of grenade safety pin.

Investigator PO2 Charlie Apostol told reporters that the grenade was turned over to the provincial police office at Camp Juan for custody. (tsg w/ rdc, rl)
