Lightning strikes anew: Father and son killed

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte, July 4—Lightning fury claimed two more lives as it struck anew on Friday afternoon at Brgy. Burayoc, this town.

Tiffany Flores said her live-in partner Fernando, 47, and their son Freddie, 13, went to the farm aboard a “Kuliglig” (improvised motorized cart).

While both were in the middle of the rice field, rain showers poured accompanied by thunder blast.

A deadly lightning bolt struck the open field hitting the father and son. Both were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Since the onset of the rainy days, previous incidents of lightning fatalities were reported in the province’s eastern towns.
