DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte – A farmer died while his three companions were injured when the shed they sought for shelter was stricken by lightning in Barangay Elizabeth, this town.
Authorities identified the fatality as Rayson Arellano while the three injured were identified as Louie Villanueva and brothers Teddy and Joseph Ballesteros.
Villanueva said the four of them went to the field but when the heavy rain poured, they sought shelter in a nearby shed. As they stood under the shed, lightning suddenly struck them.
It was learned that among the four victims, Arellano was fatally hit by the lightning bolt on the chest and thighs
Last month, another farmer from the same barangay died after he was struck by a lightning while he was crossing the riverbed in the area of Barangay Barong.
