Laoag Int’l Airport to hike terminal fee

LAOAG CITY, July 22 –Local airport Manager Ronald V. Estavillo reported that the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has planned to increase  terminal fee or passenger service charge for every passenger’s outgoing flight at the Laoag International Airport.

Estavillo explained that the proposal is part of the government’s plan to implement the increase of terminal fees in all airports of the country.
He said that under the plan, the terminal fee will increase from P40 to P200 for domestic flights  and from P500 to P700 for international flights.
He informed that CAAP Area Center I will  conduct a pre-public hearing and public consultation on the matter with all concerned sectors/parties on July 26 to be held at Northview Hotel, this city.
He further said that there is a need to increase terminal fee at the LIA since it has been long years since the last increase was made and in order to generate fund for various improvement projects of the airport.
Estavillo theorized  that  the increase of terminal fee would not adversely affect the local tourism industry in the province. (Theo S. Guiang)
