Laoag hospital now on wheels

LAOAG CITY, April 10 (PIA) — The Laoag City General Hospital is now on wheels with the recent purchase of a P10 million-worth mobile clinic.

The “Laoag City General Hospital on Wheels” will provide services ranging from x-ray, ultrasound, complete blood chemistry (CBC), including medical and dental services.

The mobile clinic is equipped with life-saving devices such as X-ray machine, electrocardiogram (ECG) machine and hospital bed.

Enrico Aurelio, Sangguniang Panglungsod Secretary, said that the city government has long planned to buy the mobile facility but the measure was only approved sometime October last year.

“(The clinic) will provide one-stop medical services, especially for emergency responses such as calamities and disasters,” Aurelio said.

The clinic is also intended for the Rang-ay ti Barangay program in partnership with the City Health Office.

The Rang-ay ti Barangay program helps in carrying-out the city government’s programs in education, health and livelihood in 80 barangays in the city.

The mobile clinic is also equipped with facilities for pap smear and circumcision services in time for the summer season.

The amount that was used to purchase the equipment was taken from the city’s Local Disaster Risk Management Fund. (Cherry Joy S. Discaya-Garma)
