Laoag Diocese has a new Bishop

LAOAG CITY (Oct. 13) – Fr. Ian Rabago confirmed that Monsignor Renato Mayugba has been appointed as new Bishop of the Diocese of Laoag. The Diocese had no Bishop for one year and two months,  a source from the Bishop’s Residence said.

Fr. Rabago, who is the current administrator of Diocese of Laoag, said that the Bishop was appointed by the Vatican. He was chosen from list of bishops who applied for said position.

Rabago added  Bishop Mayugba will soon assume his post but could not give the exact date. He succeeded Bishop Sergio Utleg, now Archbishop of the nearby Cagayan province.

Msgr. Mayugba hails from Rosales, Pangasinan . As previous assignments, he served as Parish Priest of “Our Lady of Purification”, Binmaley and Rector, Mary Help of Christians College Seminary, Bonuan, both in Pangasinan. (Theo Guiang)
