Laoag Brigada Eskwela highly rated

With the success of the Department of Education Schools Division of (SDO) Laoag City’s 2017 Brigada Eskwela held on May 15-20, OIC Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Joel B. Lopez said schools are now ready for the upcoming school year.

“(We are ready) because we have the support of our stakeholders…(We can say) that our schools are in good hands because we have the surrounding stakeholders who keep on providing us the necessary support and assistance,” he said.

A Culminating Cum Partner Appreciation Program was held at the Ilocos Norte National High School on May 22, 2017 as SDO Laoag City’s way of expressing gratitude to the stakeholders which include city and barangay officials, Parents Teachers Associations, alumni, balikbayans and all the volunteers.

More than 13,000 volunteers registered for the week-long Brigada Eskwela. The division was able to generate Php 3,816,322.50 as of May 18.

“As a way of saying thank you for your support, we shall continuously do our part so that your children who are under our care will be given quality education,” Lopez added.

He further guaranteed that all teachers of DepEd Laoag City are all committed to educating their pupils and students. “No class shall be left unattended. That is our primary program for next school year.”

Through the annual Brigada Eskwela, he said that the spirit of bayanihan and volunteerism are being kept even in this age of modern technology.

Aiming to ensure resilience and disaster preparedness of classrooms, this year’s theme is “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan.”

Aside from repairing and refurbishing classrooms and school facilities, public elementary and high schools in Laoag City also integrated disaster preparedness and rabies awareness campaign in their activities.

The personnel of the Division Office also participated in the Brigada Opisina by implementing the 5S method (sort, systematize, sanitize, sweep and self-discipline).—(Jennifer T. Pambid)
