Jehovah’s Witnesses Welcome All to 2015 “Imitate Jesus!” Convention in Filipino Sign Language

BAGUIO CITY—Jehovah’s Witnesses will soon hold their annual convention in Filipino Sign Language (FSL) at the Baguio City Convention Center. They extend an open invitation for all hearing- and speaking-impaired individuals together with their families and friends to attend. The theme of this year’s program is “Imitate Jesus!”

James B. Cabildo, a convention spokesman, states: “Jesus, the founder of Christianity, is widely considered as one of the most influential and significant men who ever lived. As Christians, a core belief of Jehovah’s Witnesses is that Jesus lived his life as a model for us to follow. The “Imitate Jesus!” convention will examine Jesus’ life, as outlined in the Bible, and emphasize how all—regardless of their background, lifestyle, or religion—can benefit in practical ways from his example and teachings. A highlight of the program will be the keynote address on Friday morning, entitled ‘Concealed in Him Are All the Treasures of Wisdom.’”

Starting this weekend, and continuing for the next couple of weeks, Jehovah’s Witnesses will extend personal invitations to everyone from Regions I, II, III and CAR to attend the convention. All of the area’s 15 congregations and 14 groups of Jehovah’s Witnesses using FSL will help distribute printed invitations to the convention. There is no admission fee.

Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations.

The three-day event in FSL to be held in Baguio City will begin Friday, November 27, 2015, at 8:20 a.m. An estimated over 1000 delegates will come to the Baguio City Convention Center for the Bible-based programs. For this year, Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Philippines alone organized a total of 133 similar conventions that started on October 2, 2015 and every Fridays to Sundays thereafter up to the end of the year. The conventions are held in 9 languages in 85 different locations including 48 cities in the country. Worldwide, there are over 8,000,000 Witnesses in more than 115,000 congregations.
