I. Norte to dish out Second Semana ti Ar-Aria Halloween Fest

Ilocos Norte is all set for its ultimate Halloween bash called Semana ti Ar-Aria starting Oct. 24 to Nov. 3. On its second time running, the said celebration will upgrade its lineup of activities as well as feature new kicks to intensify its spooktacular theme.

Sine ng Masa, a program by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will revisit the province, with its free open-air screenings to feature critically acclaimed and commercially successful Filipino films such as Sundo and Ouija by the award-winning director Topel Lee, Siquijor, and San Lazaro which is co-produced and starred by the wacky media personality, Ramon Bautista.

It will use a ‘mobile cinema’ which is described as a truck fitted with big LCD screen and equipped with sound systems and generators set to visit selected municipalities in the province starting Oct. 24 to coincide with FDCP’s mission of encouraging more Filipinos to patronize Filipino films by literally reaching out to various localities in the Philippines.

New interactive prize-at-stake games will also be held, to be topped by the gory 2K fun run aptly named as ‘Zombie Race’ where runners will navigate and survive a zombie-infested downtown Laoag.

“We are undertaking intensive preparation for the race, from the blueprint of the course up to an all-out promotion,” said April Nicolas, one of the Tourism Events Coordinators.

Arts-related programs are also included such the Johnny Moon Acting Workshop and  several arts and crafts competitions to be hosted by the La Tabacalera Lifestyle Center, Laoag City, all being expected to gather more student-participants.

“This year’s festival is much different from last year’s since we are now trying to cater to a wider audience, particularly the young,” added Nicolas.

Parada Iloca-locana and Black Party, two acclaimed activities of the previous year, are also said to culminate the whole affair.
