“Hot” lumber seized

LAOAG CITY, July 22 –Three persons were arrested by police authorities in a checkpoint here for transporting alleged illegally cut lumber.
Insp. Danilo Andres, chief investigator of PNP Laoag, said that the seized lumber consists of narra, tanggili and coco lumber. The suspects loaded the lumber in a ten-wheeler truck and failed to present proper documents.
The narra and tanggili were covered with coco lumber when cops examined the suspects’ cargo,  Andres said.
Forest Protection Officer Ariel Osario said that the seized lumber were valued at P400,000 cash.
The hot cargos were impounded at the PNP station. (Theo S. Guiang)
