Groom dies on the eve of his wedding day

  • A car crash kills him and co-rider,
    injures 6 other companions

BACARRA, Ilocos Norte, June 27– Christian Philip Agravante, 32, was all set to wed his girlfriend tomorrow but a tragic car crash claimed his life.

He and his live-in partner, who is 7-month-old pregnant, were scheduled to get married tomorrow, his aunt Marilyn told reporters.

She said that her nephew’s group had a drinking bout at her neighbor sister’s house in Pagudpud town last night.

Later, unnoticed by relatives, the group left the place and apparently headed for Laoag City.

Police said Tristan Lorenzo, 35, a balikbayan from Hawaii, also perished in the said car crash.

Their six other companions were injured and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Chief Inspector Rodelio Santos, Bacarra police chief, said the group, all from Pagudpud, boarded a Hi-Ace Toyota van and cruised the national highways in south direction.

When they reached Brgy. Cadaratan, this town, the driver allegedly lost control of the steering wheel and accidentally rammed the village welcome arc post.

Due to the strong impact, the vehicle’s front was a total wreck.

The ill-fated van landed on the side of the ricefield, the SOCO team said. (tri-media report)
