Food poisoning report denied

BURGOS, Ilocos Norte, April 7–Relatives denied earlier report that fishermen Dionisio and Marcel, both surnamed Bucao, of Brgy. Bubon, this town died of food poisoning due to eating a turtle meat.

Initial report said the two victims sickened after allegedly eating a sea turtle meat served as a finger food (pulotan) during their drinking spree.

However, Janet Bucao and other relatives quickly dismissed the allegation on turtle meat pulotan saying the two had apparently ingested a fish with uncleaned toxic intestines.

Relatives further said that the victims, likewise, had chronic illness aggravated by their excessive drinking of liquor.
Doctors tried to treat the duo but failed to revive them. A third drinking companion also sickened but survived. (tsg)
