PASUQUIN, Ilocos Norte, Feb. 9– Meat vendors at the town public market here panicked early this morning when they heard rapid gunfire sound and a bloodied man was sprawled in the pavement near their stalls. Many run away and abandoned their meat displays before lawmen arrived at the crime scene. Relatives declined to comment on the motive behind the gunslaying of former forest ranger Edward “Eddie” Arquillo saying their lawyer would handle it. The victim belongs to a prominent family in this town. Market vendors told the media that another crime incident occurred here recently. They urged the local authorities to install more lights and CCTV cameras inside and around the market building here to deter similar crime acts.(j.m./g.a.)
