Eco ‘Fun Run’ for indigent studes

LAOAG CITY, Sept. 16 — Tourism students of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) will hold an ‘Eco- Fun Run’ on Sept. 24 for the benefit of the indigent students who want to enroll Tourism Management next year in the said university.

“Proceeds of the said event will be used to create a Dragon Fruit production area in the University and the income will be used to support indigent students who opt to take up Tourism course in the university,” Cherry Orpilia, MMSU tourism instructor said.

The 5K-run challenge will commence at Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol and will end at the Mariano Marcos Stadium in Laoag City.

Students as well as the administrative staff of the university will join the event.

The University also tapped the local government units and the Department of Tourism, since the program is part of the celebration of Tourism Week in the province.

The fun run is part of the two-day convention program launched by the students as part of their school requirement, Sept. 23-24 on Enhancing Ilocos Tourism through Eco- Friendly Technology.
