Drought hits 200 hectares in Ilocos Norte–PA Lagmay

LAOAG CITY (April 24) – Provincial Agriculturist Norma Lagmay reported that about 200 hectares of farmlands in Ilocos Norte are now affected by drought.

She said that a recent survey conducted by the Provincial Agriculture Office showed that affected areas are located in Laoag City, Vintar and Bacarra towns.

Lagmay said that the findings were immediately relayed to the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) for immediate assistance.

Due to drought problem, she advised farmers in the affected areas to avoid planting any agricultural crops in their lands until condition becomes better. (Theo S. Guiang)
