DOST Chemist gets 2016 Bigueña Achiever Award

“I am proud to be part of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).”

This was stressed by Ms. Anita Criste, Head of the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) here on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 who was cited as one of the awardees for the Outstanding Women Achievers for the Year 2016 in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Ms. Criste was recognized as the 2016 Bigueña Achiever Awardee for Science and Technology by the City Government of Vigan as part of their annual celebration of Women’s Month.

The celebration aimed to inspire the women of Vigan and recognize their achievements thus, pay tribute to outstanding Bigueña in various fields of concern.

According to the Search Committee of the City Council of Women, Ms. Criste was recognized because of her exemplary accomplishments in the field of Science and Technology for almost 25 years.

In an interview, Criste said, she started working in DOST 1 in 1991 particularly for the Library Services and moved up to Food Testing Laboratory (FTL) in 1992 where she was assigned to take charge of the whole FTL operations.

Citing such achievements in her work place, she said the RSTL is ISO 17025 accredited by the Philippine Accreditation Bureau since 2007 up to now and even accredited as Testing Laboratory for drinking water and food by the Department of Health and the Food and Drugs Administration, respectively. The RSTL is likewise recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as regional testing laboratory for waste water.
