LAOAG CITY (Dec. 13) – A fisherman here was held for alleged illegal fishing in Brgy. Caaoacan, this city.

Investigation showed that the responding policemen had received an earlier call from Barangay Information Network informing them about an illegal fishing activity at said barangay.

P/Supt. Jeffrey Gorospe, chief of police, and his men immediately rushed to the scene where they arrested Ernesto Anac, 40 and resident of same barangay. They personally witnessed the suspect using dynamite explosives while fishing in the area, Gorospe said.

Police confiscated from Anac some 55 kilos of fish, an improvised gadget for fishing and his fishing boat.

Meanwhile, Herman Fermin of City Agriculture Office said that the examined sample of fish from Anac’s catch proved that he used dynamite in fishing. (Theo S. Guiang)
