Camp Juan Probers Release Cartographic Sketch of Suspect in Velascos’ Slay

CAMP CAPT. VALENTIN S. JUAN, Laoag City (Sept. 4) – The Ilocos Norte police provincial office (INPPO) has released the cartographic sketch of a man believed to be involved in the recent killing of businessman Dionisio Velasco and his 18-year-old daughter Dianne Rose, a third-year nursing student of Divine Word College of this city.

PNP Provincial Director Senior Supt. Marlou Chan tagged the suspect as about 5’5″ in height and aged 30-35. The suspect was the stranger disguised as garlic merchant who went to the victims’ residence several hours before the gunslaying.

He said police cartographers had the sketch of the suspect based on the description made by widow, Mrs. Emma Velasco, who claimed to have seen that stranger.

Mr. Velasco and her daughter were killed when their Tamaraw FX they were riding in was ambushed by gunmen at Brgy. San Pedro, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte last August 18 on their way home to Brgy. Durepes of same town after fetching his daughter from the school in DWCL in Laoag.

Investigators said that prior to the killing of her husband, a stranger, posing as a garlic trader from a neighboring barangay, went to their house at past noon in the same day, asking the whereabouts of her husband.

Chan said that he was confident that the arrest of the person described in the cartographic sketch will provide lead to probers in resolving the crime.

He theorized that the motive behind the killing of Velasco may be due to business deal problem. (Excel D. Guiang)
