Bypass Bridge Mulled to Ease Traffic in Laoag

LAOAG CITY (March 1) – Laoag City Mayor Michael Fariñas has disclosed a plan to build a bypass bridge linking Brgy. Nalbo and Ablan Avenue across the western Padsan River here.

In a broadcast interview, Fariñas said Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Singson and first district Congressman Rodolfo Fariñas had agreed “in principle” that they will support the project during his meeting with them.

The Mayor added that Secretary Singson had asked the city to make a feasibility study on the project as part of the initial requirement.

Mayor Fariñas expressed his joy over the positive result of their meeting. The construction of the bypass bridge will complement the existing Gilbert Bridge as city traffic woes now begun to worsen as evidence during rush hours, he said. (edg)
