Businesses urged to respond fast to government’s economic surveys

LAOAG CITY, May 20 (PIA) – – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) urged all local businesses to respond immediately to the government- mandated economic surveys if ever they were selected as respondents.

Socrates L, Ramores, regional director of PSA Region 1, made the call during the recently concluded provincial respondent’s forum for the 2015 Annual Survey for Philippine Business Industry (ASPBI) and 2015 Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT) held in Laoag City.

He said the consolidation of the data for the survey of the efficiency rate of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) for 2015 is under process and is expected to be released by July 2016.

“Although, we have as high as 92 percent compliance of our respondents for the economic surveys we are conducting annually in Region 1, we are reiterating our call to our identified respondents to respond immediately to our surveys to avoid delay on the consolidation of results,” Ramores said.

He disclosed that the results of their economic surveys are very significant as these will serve as aid by the economic planners, lawmakers and stakeholders for policy – making.

“The respondents of our study should answer truthfully and accurately the indicators of our surveys because this will draw the real picture of our countryside’s economy,” he stressed.

“The data we gathered from our surveys will serve as the evidence for the actual situation of regional economy; and status of living of the residents, employment, manufacturing, revenue generation and other economic indicators,” he added.
