BATAC CITY, May 28–Jail Warden Jerry Palalay ordered immediate halt to the alleged illegal exaction of fees from inmates (if there is any) at the BJMP detention center, this city.
JCI Palalay issued the order following a TV report of GMA Balitang Ilokano which aired an unconfirmed allegation by a concerned wife of one inmate.
The complaint alleged that a “superior inmate” had been secretly collecting illegal entrance fees from new inmates, visiting spouses or relatives as well as monthly fees for the use of the detention cells.
The warden said he does not tolerate such illegal activity inside BJMP, if there is any . (jg/al)
