Senator Bongbong Marcos on Thursday, November 5 commended Ilocos Norte Governor Imee R. Marcos for being named as one of the Outstanding Governorship Awardees of the Philippines last October 28, 2015.
“Congratulations on your selection by Superbrands Marketing Inc. as the outstanding governor (of the Philippines), we always knew it and now the rest of the world does. Well done!” said Senator Marcos in a video clip.
Recognized for her extraordinary leadership and initiatives in transforming Ilocos Norte in the past five years, Governor Marcos has earlier expressed her gratitude to all Ilocanos for upholding the unique Ilocano culture of ‘timpuyog’ or unity.
She added that age-old idea of ‘timpuyog’ has been valuable in improving Ilocos Norte’s transitional economy growing rapidly at 16.7% as well as exceeding poverty now at 8.4% (at 28% in 2010), employment and education.
The Outstanding Governorship Award is conferred by the Superbrands Marketing International Inc. (SMI) which seeks to recognize the achievements and excellence of various government officials in nation building.—John Michael Mugas, PGIN-CMO
