PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte (Sept. 9) – The chief of anti-illegal fishing watchmen group in Brgy. Pansian of this coastal town died instantly in a road accident.
Police identified the victim as Charles Babila, 57 and president of Bantay Dagat fisherfolks in Pansian.
Initial investigation showed that Babila and his brother-in-law were riding in a ‘kurong-kurong’ makeshift tricycle when the latter suddenly lost control of their trike. The kurong2 hit a pile of sand throwing out Babila from the trike and fell into a ravine.
Due to the impact, the victim suffered fractured skull which led to his death.
