SAN FERNANDO CITY, July 14 – The La Union police marked the Police Community Relations with a series of activities in partnership with the various sectors of the community.
The month-long event recognizes the vital role that is commonly shared by the police and the community in maintaining peace and order, public safety and progress through active community involvement in crime prevention in the neighborhoods, Angelita B. Concepcion, National Police Commission Director said.
“Only with strong partnerships, enhanced networking capabilities, and organized community infrastructures can communities become vigilant, prepared and resilient in the war against crime,” she said.
Concepcion took note of multi-agency partnerships in safeguarding the community.
“Community safety is largely dependent on the commitment and collaboration of law enforcement, government and non-government organizations and the organized community,” she said.
The event launch included the awarding of top police units and officers for police community relations.
The La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) was awarded best PCR Unit for 2013-2014 at the regional level. It also earned the national award for the provincial police category.
The City of San Fernando Police Station (SFC PS) got the same award in the city police category regional level.
Supt. Julius C. Suriben was named “Regional awardee for Best PCR Police Commissioned Officer (PCO); PO3 Maria Caridad D. Godoy as best PCR for Non-Commissioned Officer regional level.
Awardees for the PNP sectoral partners were: Dagupan City, Pangasinan Mayor Belen T. Fernandez – Best Local Chief Executive of the year 2013-2014; Barangay Peace and Action Teams from Barangays Dadaor and Utol, both in Bangui, Ilocos Norte. (MIRIAM P. AQUINO)
