BACARRA, Ilocos Norte, March 20–”I thought it was a log”.
An Australian national, 71, married to a Filipina wife of Bangui, Ilocos Norte, gave this remark when grilled at the police station here.
He alleged the object hit on the road by his Pajero he was driving was a log not a human being. His companion during the accident was his wife, police said.
Investigation showed that the Pajero was traced by lawmen as the suspected SUV that run over the body of Brgy. Captain Felix Mendoza.
Mendoza earlier fell on the middle of the road after he fatally bumped an stray dog along the Corocor national highways here last Saturday night. While lying on the road, an incoming SUV run over him, police said.(ga/ar)
