LAOAG CITY, August 28 — The provincial government of Ilocos Norte conducted a “Creative Media Arts Festival” offering seminars, forums, workshops and interactive learning on media arts and filmmaking.
Dubbed “Looking for Johnny Moon 2,” the festival which is on its second year aims to uphold the Ilocanos’ homegrown talent particularly in the field of creative media arts, which could be developed for international display.
The four-day seminar was participated in by highly acclaimed and award winning artists in different fields, such as in film directing, script writing, film editing, sound design, graphics design, animation and game development.
Among the artists who took the center stage were Roy Iglesias, Tikoy Aguiluz, and Danny Anonuevo, who spoke about the inner workings of scriptwriting, film directing and editing.
John Mark Diego, nominee during the 2012 Golden Screen Awards for Best Musical Score Composer for an Indie Film “Pintakasi,” detailed the art of sound design, while graphic designer and illustrator Christian San Jose described the work put into graphic design.
For animation and game development, experts Mike Magpantay, EF Cruz and Gaby Dizon mentored the participants for a high-class and international quality of 2D animation and game development.
Aside from lectures and workshops, participants did a film shooting activity for a hands-on learning experience.
The art festival was participated in by more or less 200 participants, mostly students. After the event, participants were treated to a tour on Ilocos Norte’s top tourist destinations.
“Looking for Johnny Moon” is a festival initiated by the provincial government, paying tribute to the famous Ilocano painter Juan Luna with an inspiration of dawning a new breed of Johnny Moon (english translation of Juan Luna) who will blend innovative art in the digital world.
