Another solar farm to operate in Ilocos Norte

DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte – A one-megawatt solar plant will start its operation on March 25 inside the property of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) located in its main office in this town.

INEC General Manager Felino Herbert Agdigos, general manager of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative, said that the project was under a build–operate-transfer (BOT) system contracted with the Korean firm Bosong Solar Tech Incorporation.

He added under a memorandum of agreement earlier signed the equipment and operation of the solar farm will be turned over by the Korean firm to INEC after 15 years.

It was learned that generated power from the solar farm will be transmitted to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) through the grid.

The province has been generating at least 300MW power generated through the existing wind and solar farms throughout the province. (tsg)
