VELASCO TO APPEAL CASE
BACARRA, Ilocos Norte, July 9–As last ditch legal battle, Vice Mayor Pacifico Velasco of this town will file a petition for certiorari with the Supreme Court to appeal a Comelec decision disqualifying him due to his alleged conviction for graft by Sandiganbayan, sources said. An arrest warrant is issued against him. Cops vow to serve it. He claims he is sick and being treated in an undisclosed hospital.
GEN. BUCAYO VISITS WAKE OF SLAIN COP
MARCOS TOWN, Ilocos Norte, July 8–Police regional director C/Supt. Franklin Bucayo paid a personal visit to the wake of Intel officer SPO2 Danny Ballesteros who was allegedly shot and killed together with his police chief P/I Naldo Aromin by suspected holduppers during a pursuit operation here. Gen. Bucayo gave a DILG-PNP financial aid to the family and a medal of valor to the fallen cop.
DRUG PUSHER NABBED
LAOAG CITY, July 8–At least 24 sachets of suspected shabu and paraphernalia were seized from a certain Arnel during a police operation here, police chief P/S Sterling Blanco reported.
