LAOAG CITY, May 11 (PIA) – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has reported “zero” grid-related incidents during the May 9 polls.
Lilibeth Gaydowen, spokesperson of NGCP-Northern Luzon, said the grid had deactivated its 24-hour election monitoring center on May 10, 2016 upon the transmission of the early poll results.
“The NGCP did not encounter any major system disturbance on election day,” she said.
She disclosed that the Power Task Force Election (PTFE) 2016, headed by the Department of Energy (DOE), was headquartered at the NGCP’s Overall Command Center in Diliman, Quezon City and operated round the clock starting May 8, 2016.
“The power system condition and restoration activities were monitored hourly; and reports from the Regional Command Centers were received and were submitted to the DOE and other external agencies,” she disclosed.
She added that satellite Command Centers were also operated round the clock in La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Isabela, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Cebu, Leyte, Bacolod, Iloilo, Iligan, Zamboanga del Sur, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, Davao, and General Santos.
