SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte, May 2 – About 3,000 jobs were made available on Labor Day job fair at the Robinsons Place, San Nicolas town in Ilocos Norte on May 1, the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office I said.

DOLE-RO I Regional Director Grace Ursua said some 25 local and 10 overseas employers with 1,500 and 1,207 vacancies, respectively, participated during the event.

“This year’s Labor Day celebration is anchored on the theme, “Kinabukasan Sigurado sa Disenteng Trabaho,” to underscore the DOLE’s role in fulfilling inclusive growth through the facilitation of employment of our workers in decent and productive jobs,” she said.

“We are working with our partners to make it easy for our jobseekers to find jobs that will suit their qualifications, skills, talents, credentials and career inclinations, while we help employers fill their manpower needs,” Ursua said.

Ursua added that jobseekers that joined the Labor Day job fairs saved on expenses and time because the employers were in one venue.

“They need not go to far places and hop from one company to another to submit their application documents because there (were) various local and overseas employers. They were advised to be ready with multiple sets of application documents because jobs are aplenty,” the regional director said.

The jobs fair likewise featured one-stop-shop employment services by the DOLE, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), National Labor Relations Commission, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund.

The PRC brought all its services such as registration of license, application for examination, renewal of ID card, releasing of available ID cards, authentication, certification, including legal advice.

The TESDA, on the other hand, offered free pampering services. (Cherry Joy D. Garma/PIA1-Ilocos Norte, with reports from DOLE-RO1)
