DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte — The first firecracker victim in the province was an eight-year-old boy in Brgy. Capasan, this town, a belated report said.
Chief Insp. Jonathan Papay, Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) spokesman said that the victim lost one of his fingers when a “Piccolo” exploded in the victim’s hand.
After the incident, policemen from the Dingras Police Station quickly confiscated all illegal firecrackers from the establishment where the child bought the prohibited firecrackers.
Police said that about two medium boxes containing 23 small boxes of Corsair Pacquiao-Ultramaa (piccolo), and 15 small boxes of “Pop pop,” another type of firecracker were seized. (tsg)
