8-hour brownout in entire Ilocos Norte; 10 towns and Vigan City in Ilocos Sur on Apr 27

LAOAG CITY, April 25 — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has set an eight-hour power service interruption to the whole province of Ilocos Norte and some parts of Ilocos Sur from 7am to 3pm on April 27, Saturday.

According to Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP’s corporate communications and public affairs officer for Northern Luzon, the power service interruption is due to their annual preventive maintenance and testing of 100 Mega Volt Ampere power transformer and its associated equipment at San Esteban, Ilocos Sur substation.

Transmission facilities in Ilocos Norte will be shut down including some facilities in Ilocos Sur which will affect the towns of Bantay, Sta. Catalina, San Vicente, Caoayan, San Ildefonso, Sto Domingo, Magsingal, San Juan, Cabugao, Sinait and Vigan City.

According to NGCP advisory, normal operations will resume once the preventive maintenance is completed.

NGCP advised the public to take necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption. (Ariel Paolo A. Tejada)
