TUPAD WORKERS

LAOAG CITY — At least 4,880 persons from Ilocos region are benefitting from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD livelihood program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

DOLE Region 1 Director Grace Ursua said that 2,435 of these TUPAD beneficiaries were displaced workers or those whose livelihood have been affected by calamities or extreme weather disturbances since 2012.

Under the program, the workers are involved in clearing of barangay roads, declogging of canals and waterways, cleaning and grubbing of earthdikes, waste management, and minor repairs of public facilities and buildings. (Freddie G. Lazaro/mb)
