$6M Human Rights Claim vs. Marcoses Dismissed

BATAC CITY (July 26) – Former First Lady now Ilocos Norte 2nd district Rep. Imelda R. Marcos has disclosed that the $6 million human rights claim against the Marcoses was dismissed recently by a regional trial court in Makati City.

Mrs. Marcos, widow of the late President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, said the RTC decision was penned by Makati Judge Reynaldo Laygo last July 8.

She divulged to the local press about the information on the decision last July 22.

She did not give details on the decision.

It may noted that the same case of human rights claims was first filed in Hawaii court abroad years ago.

The Honolulu court dismissed it in favor of the Marcoses. It was refiled later in the country by the same complainants who claimed to be human rights victims during the Marcos regime.

The congresswoman said the latest court decision had vindicated the name of her late husband saying that then President Marcos was not a human rights violator contrary to the allegation of the claimants. (BR)
