3 men killed, girl companion unhurt

PAOAY, Ilocos Norte, May 18–John Roy Aboy, resident of Brgy. Sungadan, this town and two male companions were shot and killed inside his house by unidentified gunmen, lawmen reported.

The shooting occurred several hours ago as Sentinel went to the press.
Police identified Aboy’s slain companions as Don Campanilla and Teddy Tabin alias Takas, both residents of nearby Currimao town.

A woman, believed to be the girl friend of Campanilla, was also inside the house when the shooting erupted. Luckily, she emerged unscathed when she hid herself for safety.

Initial investigation showed that the three were having a drinking spree inside the house when the suspects arrived aboard a car. Aboy went to the porch and briefly talked to them.

All of a sudden, rapid gunfire from automatic rifles rung out. The fallen trio suffered severe multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Investigators said Aboy had received that day a death threat based on the text message in his cellphone found by police.

Also recovered near the body of Aboy were a caliber .45 pistol and several empty shells indicating that he probably traded shots with the attackers before he collapsed, investigators added.(jrg/rs/tc/rj/jg/ga)
