BURGOS, Ilocos Norte (May 10) — Three people were killed while 14 others were injured in a vehicular accident involving a public utility bus (PUB) along the national highway in Barangay Saoit,this town early morning Saturday.
PO3 Darwin Macalma, duty investigator of Burgos town police station, identified the fatalities as Hilda Suboc, 29, of Santa Clara, Gonzaga, Cagayan; Jil Bacuyag, 19, from Barangay Bical, Lallo, Cagayan; and Beverly Pama, 22, of Naguillian, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur.
Investigation showed that the accident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday. The GMW Busline with plate number BVB 621 driven by Roel Trinidad was enroute to Vigan City from Cagayan.
The bus was reportedly moving downward in a curve portion of the road when it accidentally crashed and bumped a tree.
Due to the strong impact, the three of the passengers who sustained wounds in several parts of their body died before reaching the Bangui District Hospital.
Macalma said the injured victims were transferred to the different hospitals in the province for immediate treatment.
He also said the bus driver is now under their custody while follow- up investigation is still ongoing. ( Freddie G. Lazaro)
