3 angles in Mandac slay case—Balles

LAOAG CITY, Jan. 24—Supt. Edwin Balles, city police chief, said that they were looking into three angles in the Mandac killing—drug, illicit love affair and his pending frustrated murder case.

Norman Mandac, 53, a businessman of Anao, Piddig, Ilocos Norte, was gunned down by assassins riding in tandem along Bacarra Road (Gen. Segundo Ave.) at Brgy. Barit, this city at about 9 o’clock this morning, police said.

Mandac was repeatedly shot as he drove his motorcycle going to the city proper.

The suspects, wearing crash helmets, fled the crime scene aboard a black motorcycle.

Rescuers rushed the victim to the provincial hospital here where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body inflicted by pistol bullet. (tsg w/ report from da, rl, mma, nrt)
