‘2,500 drug offenders surrender in I.N.’ — S/Supt. Nartatez, Jr.

CAMP JUAN, Laoag City (July 22) – More than 2,500 drug offenders have so far voluntarily surrendered to authorities in the province of Ilocos Norte, OIC police provincial director Sr. Supt. Melencio Nartatez, Jr. said.

“We are continuously conducting our operations on pushers and users who remain at large,” Nartatez said.

He said that of the total number who surrendered, only 7% or a total of 189 individuals are identified as pushers.

He disclosed that those who are in the top list of drug personalities in the province are currently under surveillance and possible arrests may soon be implemented against them.

He added that the police are still validating and at the same time collating all information they received.

He disclosed that two big time drug pushers are among those who presented themselves to the police authorities before the conduct of operations against them.

The provincial director admitted that none from the surrenderees had brought with them illegal drugs. (tsg)
