VP BINAY TO REPRESENT PRESIDENT AQUINO IN NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT SUMMIT IN IRAN

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay will leave on Tuesday, August 28, for Tehran, Iran to represent President Benigno Aquino III in the 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit (NAM Summit).
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is expected to attend the summit that will be attended by representatives from all NAM member-states as well as associated observer countries.
While in Iran, the Vice President will also visit the Philippine embassy’s welfare center and is also expected to attend the official lunch to be hosted by his Excellency Mahmood Ahmadi Nejad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, for summit delegates.
Founded in September 1961, NAM is comprised of 120 countries, apart from 19 observer countries and 10 observer organizations
According to its website, NAM focuses on striving for the interests of developing countries all over the world, and now represents nearly two-thirds of UN member-countries and comprises 55 percent of the world population.
